The classic smoking jacket is simply a mid-thigh length jacket that evolved from the long dressing gown, and is usually made of velvet with a quilted satin shawl collar, turn up cuffs and long belt. The 19th century gave rise to informal at-home men's robes, and these types of garments soon became a must-have in every gentleman's wardrobe.

Each robe is the result of hours of precise craftwork. All products are handmade in our Hamburg-based studio.
Worn in smoking lounges or in the study, this short mid-thigh robe had two functions: to protect a suit from tobacco smoke and keep warm.
Dressing gowns and smoking jackets were fashioned in thick, smell-absorbing fabric and made with a quilted silk shawl collar and cuffs for extra warmth. The quilting also collected falling ash from cigars.
